At SuRaj Foundation, We are driven by a profound belief that true societal progress stems from nurturing our environment, safeguarding animal welfare, empowering individuals with essential skills, and providing unwavering support to those in need. Our journey began with a simple yet powerful idea: to give back to the society that has given us so much, a concept deeply rooted in the legacy of our founders' mothers, Suman and Rajani. Their names, combining to form 'SuRaj,' meaning 'sunbeam,' perfectly encapsulate our commitment to shining a light of hope and opportunity where it’s needed most.
We envision a future where vibrant ecosystems thrive, animals are treated with compassion and respect, every individual has the opportunity to achieve their full potential, and communities are resilient and self-sufficient. To achieve this, we focus our efforts on four interconnected pillars: wildlife conservation, animal welfare, skill development, and community support. Through our TEACH (Tigers Ecosystem And Conservation of Habitat) program, we strive to protect India’s majestic tigers and their vital ecosystems, recognizing their symbolic importance to our natural heritage. Our PAWS (Pet Advocacy & Welfare of Society) program advocates for the rights and well-being of all animals, promoting responsible pet ownership and compassionate communities. The SPARK (Skills, Preparation, Access, Readiness & Knowledge) program empowers underprivileged youth and adults by equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in a competitive world, bridging the gap between potential and opportunity. Finally, our We Care program provides direct support to communities in times of need, addressing immediate challenges and fostering long-term resilience.

The tiger is more than just a majestic animal; it's a symbol of India's rich natural heritage. Our TEACH (Tigers Ecosystem And Conservation of Habitat) program is our unwavering commitment to ensuring these magnificent creatures not only survive but thrive in their natural habitats. We understand that tiger conservation extends beyond protecting the animal itself; it involves safeguarding their entire ecosystem and fostering a harmonious coexistence between humans and wildlife.
Our efforts in TEACH focus on several key areas:
  • Habitat Protection and Restoration: We work tirelessly to protect and restore the vital habitats that tigers call home. This includes efforts to combat deforestation, prevent habitat fragmentation, and support the creation of safe wildlife corridors.
  • Community Engagement to Reduce Human-Animal Conflict: We believe that local communities are crucial partners in conservation. We engage with communities living in and around tiger habitats to develop sustainable solutions that minimize human-animal conflict, promoting understanding and coexistence through awareness programs and alternative livelihood initiatives.
  • Powerful Educational Outreach: Education is a cornerstone of our conservation strategy. We conduct workshops and awareness campaigns in schools and rural communities to instil a sense of responsibility and appreciation for wildlife from a young age.

PAWS: Pet Advocacy & Welfare of Society

Our PAWS (Pet Advocacy & Welfare of Society) program is deeply dedicated to creating a world where every pet is treated with the love, respect, and dignity they deserve. We firmly believe that a society's true compassion is measured by how it treats its most vulnerable, including its animals. Our work extends to both domestic pets and stray animals, striving for a future where all animals are cared for and valued within their communities.
Our initiatives under PAWS include:
  • Supporting Local Animal Shelters: We provide vital support to local shelters, helping them offer safe havens, medical care, and nourishment to abandoned and rescued animals.
  • Promoting Adoption Over Buying: We passionately advocate for pet adoption, educating the public on the benefits of giving a loving home to an animal in need rather than purchasing from breeders.
  • Running Sterilization and Vaccination Drives: To control the stray animal population and prevent the spread of diseases, we regularly organize and support sterilization and vaccination drives, ensuring healthier animal communities.
  • Educating the Community on Responsible Pet Ownership: We conduct workshops and awareness campaigns to educate the public on responsible pet parenting, covering topics like nutrition, hygiene, training, and the importance of regular veterinary care.

Our key objectives under We Care include:
  • Support for Specially Challenged and Disabled Children: We direct our support towards a reputed school's special wing that exclusively admits specially challenged and disabled children. Our grants assist these children in accessing quality education and resources.
  • Grants for Deserving Student Families: The funds provided are further utilized by the school to offer grants and support to deserving student families, helping them overcome financial barriers to their children's education and well-being.
  • Support to Grassroots Institutions: We partner with and provide support to local grassroots organizations that are deeply embedded within communities, leveraging their insights and reach to execute projects that make a real, tangible difference in people's lives.
  • Collaborating with Local Bodies and Corporates: We actively seek partnerships with local government bodies and corporate entities to amplify our impact and reach more individuals and communities in need.

“E-Poaching” A Documentary focused on responsible social media use in Tiger Tourism

This flagship project aims to create a powerful documentary highlighting the beauty of India’s tigers and the urgent need for their conservation. The project features rangers, communities, and change-makers making a difference on the ground. We are specifically creating a single documentary on e-poaching, shedding light on how the internet’s misuse is causing encroachment and posing a significant threat to wildlife through irresponsible tourism practices.

We Care – Inclusive Education Support

Through our We Care project, We provide financial support to a reputed school’s dedicated unit for children with disabilities. This contribution helps the school deliver quality education and tailored resources, while also enabling them to offer grants to deserving student families.
